Britain in Bloom is coming to Whittington & Fisherwick!

Britain in Bloom is coming to Whittington & Fisherwick!

As if we don't have enough to do, we have come up with the idea of entering the parish for the Britain in Bloom competition. The competition is judged on 3 main elements: Horticultural achievement; Community participation; Environmental responsibility. We have so much to show off already - beautiful Churchyard, Hospice sensory garden, Main Street flower troughs, Community Orchard, bulb-filled verges (to name but a few). And it would also build on the ongoing River of Flowers initiative.

WFEG and the Parish Council have agreed to establish a Steering Group to take this forward, aiming for an initial entry this year (by 30th April) based on what we already have - and then looking ahead to see what can be done to make Whittington (and Fisherwick) an even more beautiful and environmentally friendly community for future years. We will be approaching village organisations shortly to get their support and involvement - but we would very much welcome participation from individuals who would like to contribute.

Please email Mike via mike@wfeg.org.uk or phone 07932 757826 if you would like to be involved.
