Community Orchard Workshop - Sunday 5th February, 10am to 3pm

Our first event focuses on the management of fruit trees and an orchard, based around the Community Orchard in Jubilee Park.

The event will be led by Wade Muggleton, Senior Greenspace Officer at Worcestershire County Council, where he has helped instigate a network of orchards across the County (there are 20). He also manages his own orchard (130 fruit trees and 105 apple varieties), is Secretary to the Marches Apple Network and has written several books on orchards (https://www.marcherapple.net/product-category/books/).

The workshop will combine theory and practice with classroom work in the morning and practical demonstration in the Jubilee community orchard in the afternoon. Wade will cover choosing, planting, pruning and feeding the main kinds of fruit trees - you don't need to have an orchard to benefit from this event, but an interest in fruit trees will help! (By the way 5 fruit trees is generally deemed to constitute an orchard).

The event will be held at Whittington Cricket Club, Vicarage Lane, WS14 9LQ (where there is parking) from 10am to 3pm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Donations welcome - recommended minimum £10 (including lunch). As the main part of the event is outdoors, please dress for the weather.

Please register your interest in attending as well as any dietary requirements, to lcmason73@gmail.com so that we have numbers for lunch.
