Low energy street lighting first for Whittington – the village has been chosen by Staffordshire County Council and EoN to trial a brand new type of low energy lighting.
The new lights have been installed in Rock Farm Road and Cloister Walk.
As well as saving a significant amount of energy the new lights also cause a lot less light pollution in the night sky, so villagers will be able to see the stars again!
Whittington was chosen for this pilot because of its growing reputation as a community with aspirations to lower its carbon emissions and improve the environment.
A delegation from Staffordshire County Council and EoN plc (who are funding the pilot) visited the village on 24th March and were delighted with the results.
Of course the ultimate test will be the opinions of the residents of the two streets and WFEG would be very interested to receive any feedback. Please email comments to
