Notice of Annual General Meeting

Dear Member/Supporter

I am writing to give you notice that the third Annual General Meeting of WFEG will take place on Thursday 13^th May in the Social Club at 7.30 pm. We are greatly looking forward to welcoming members to the meeting.

It’s intended that the formalities of the meeting will be short but informative – reporting back on the successes of the past year and outlining our plans for the coming year. We expect this to last half an hour at the most. Attendees at the AGM will be entitled to a free glass of Bucks Fizz (or orange juice) to celebrate WFEG’s 3 fantastically successful and award-winning years of operation.

The AGM will be followed by what we hope will be a stimulating presentation and discussion from Low Carbon Hook Norton - a similar sized village which has set up a Community Company to generate its own power. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available after the presentation, along with the opportunity to socialise.

There are several vacancies on the Management Committee and we would welcome additional names to come forward. Nominations should be made on the form below. Please note that to be eligible for the Management Committee and to vote at the AGM you need to be a resident of the parish. Some minor amendments to the Constitution are being recommended by the Management Committee and these are attached. The current WFEG constitution can be found here. Copies of the Annual report and accounts will be posted on this website one week before the meeting and will also be available at the meeting itself.

We have sent this letter out by email to all those for whom we have email addresses, otherwise by post. We aim to communicate with members and supporters by email as much as possible including our regular ‘Ezine’ which updates members on our events and activities. PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO WFEG CONSTITUTION

Background

As most members will be aware, WFEG introduced a new on-line membership sign-up process last August. To bring the constitution into line with this some minor changes are required to the Constitution which can only be altered by a two-thirds majority at a General Meeting. Therefore the Management Committee wishes to recommend that the following changes be adopted at the AGM.

Para 4.iii currently states
Prospective members should apply in writing to the membership secretary by completing an application form. Membership will begin when a valid application form is accepted by the Membership Secretary. Membership is on an Annual basis.

Proposed change:
Prospective members should join online via our website at www.wfeg.org.uk by completing an application form. Membership will begin immediately.

Para 4.vi currently states
Members may resign at any time on written notification to the membership secretary or verbally at a meeting.

Proposed change:
Members may resign at any time on written notification to the Chair or Webmaster or verbally at a meeting

Recommendation from the Management Committee

That members approve the changes to the Constitution detailed above.
